Unless you are a professional chef and you have a passion for knives, you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a good quality knife. A good moderately price knife would range from $50 to $65. Above $130-140, you are starting to get some very beautiful and well made knives but the tool will not make you a chef. Your skills will. Only buy carbon or high carbon steel. No stainless steel.
